Rockport, back in the old windsurfing days, used to be called the toilet bowl for a very good reason. Find somewhere else.

Hi Todd, sorry I didn't get back sooner. Mike is mostly right about Rockport. It is down in the bottom of a bowl and the wind is gusty. The exception is on a pre-frontal type southerly. The river valley comes in from the southeast. I've found that when a front is just getting to us and the wind is southeast, Rocko can have good steady wind. Usually that's mid morning and lasts till noon. As the front gets closer and the wind clocks to the south and west it gets swirly. I've been out a few times this year on a northwest and it's better than nothing, but it's gusty-holey. For the wind to come over the dam it would have to be north northeast. The best launch is on the pay side of the south end for the northwest wind because it hits that side better. On a south you could launch from the highway side.

Ralph thanks. very good information. Mike funny shit, basically even though beaches look great for self launching dont waste to much time.
