so I am heading up to palasade state park in a few weeks for some fishing, golfing and camping with the family. I have been doing a little investigating of the area because I have never been there and it looks like it could have potential for kite surfing. Has anyone had some experience with that area?

If your talking about Pallisades reservoir in Wyoming/Idaho then the answer is yes you can kite it. On hi pressure days there is a pretty good wind that blows over the damn in the morning. The launch is beyond sketchy though. I wouldnt recommend it unless you know what your doing and even then watch someone else go first. You can also kite other areas on the reservoir but the wind is hit and miss. There is a wind gage in Alpine,WY for those days and the gage in Ririe, ID will tell you if the morning wind is on.

If your talking Palisades Park down by Manti. I went there with equipment last summer and never saw kitable wind. If the wind was to come out of the south west and you had some help launching your kite I could see getting some kiting in.

Not likely to kite at Palisade res, too close to the hills and wind does not always funnel solid in that area. Gunnison res is a better shot and in the center of the valley... but still not a destination on its own. Yuba has AM potential, but like most Utah spots its an hour drive.
Best kiting near Palisade is Skyline between Nov and May.

Thanks guys. Looks like it will be a golfing trip then. Oh well, the wind has been so good here in StGeorge I can't complain about a week with out wind.
