Hey, I didn't have time to watch the whole video...

It's a bit long for the content ... No offense... But I appreciate the effort of whoever posted it. It actually is a great cam, and I actually got some zen out of watching it...
Anybody know who this sailor is? And is that a longboard, if not, which Starboard is it?

Rick, Thanks for the plug. And Point taken. I will keep it short in the future. The video starts slow and drags on and on. But the middle part was alot of fun.

Also the soundtrack helps a lot on this updated version:

Shawn,
Actually, like I said, I was mezmorized after a while... Being that I haven't been able to get out as much in the last year because of the business that I'm in! So I actually watched it all later and enjoyed it. So thanks for taking me out with ya. What is that board though? I think I have some guesses. Soundtracks help... You need to get some editing software rollin' (which you probably already do) and throw together a film for next year's annual meeting at Brewvies!

The Board is a 2009 Starboard GO 122. It works much better on Deer Creek than Utah Lake, but its an improvement from what I was on last year(Its 70 cm wide vs. 80cm on my free formula) It gets me through the chop but just barely as you can see in the video. I’m getting close to taking a leap onto a 102L 60cm next. I Just need more start confidence first. Hence, the edit only includes beach starts. The deep water makes me feel a bit awkward.

Shawn, the chance of you using the sup 100 liter board is pretty small in this area. Going over chops with a wider board would require different footwork/stance. From what I can see, your front foot is too far forward in the start (your front foot should not be over the mast track), and you back foot is too far into the center line. By moving both feet back towards the back and the rail, your board catch wind on the top, thus a gust will push the board into the water, rather than push the board up for airtime. Also, close the sail (learn the tail of the sail towards the water) and sheet in a little more.

Shawn, when can you go out again.
Grantsville will be rocking the next couple of days. Prime place to try your 100 liter board. Morning sessions.

http://www.boardseekermag.com/technique ... video.htmlIt makes a huge difference. I sailed in 30 mph wind (40+ gust) with 5' - 6' swells on a 144 liter board!

That technique is for riding in overpowered conditions.

Josh, I am the morning response guy at work, so Grants is usually a weekend chance for me. I really want to make the Friday PM Provo Boat harbor, hope to see you there.
