A pretty good beginner spot?
Saturday, after kiting Willard,
we went to check out Woodruff Narrows Reservoir.
on the utah/wyo border, south of Evanston.
It's been a long time since we have been there,
the water was always quite low in past visits.
When the water is fairly high,, and the wind is south, southwest.
the north end, by the boat ramp,
looks to be an option for kiters that don't quite have the upwind thing down,
as long as the kiter does not go out very far.
Not a great beginner place, but may be a summer option to waiting for Utah Lake.
Disclaimer...
4 things have to happen to make it work for beginners.
1) Fairly high water level
2) South, Southwest wind direction.
3) Don't go out in the reservoir to far, past safe downwind rescue beach.
4) North end only, in the cove, by the boat ramp.
5) Dress appropriately. It can be cold sitting in cold Wyoming water.
Be smart when checking this location out, it' mostly offshore wind,
with no roads on the east side of the water.
Rock cliffs downwind MUST be avoided.
