It is stupid! Some kiter will see a photo of this and missed the part about needing a crew to keep people away from the pier and have medics ready if he got slam into the pier. And one mistake like that, it would take out the access to that location. Stupid!

I don't think the rider was stupid. He was the same guy that jumped over the Worthington Pier. A jump like that takes total commitment. Anyone that is foolish enough to try the same stunt without the proper preparation is stupid. Just because you see something in a video, doesn't mean that you have the skills to duplicate it.

Personally, I would not take that risk. However, it takes my breath away every time I see that video.

I think this is great! When I was in the Marine Corps we kept getting memos from Washington that said "Safety is paramount", my wise squadron commander barked out and told us " Bull shit! if Safety was paramount, we would not even get in the Jet, we would not go fly and fight. if "Safety was paramount" we would stay home and watch our enemies fly by." ......... freaking awesome clear words.

It is hard to make a living as a Pro kiter. Pros need to keep going bigger and bigger to get real paydays. Look at the X-Games,Jackass and Nitro Circus. Going Big... is how you get paid!

We have a few guys here in Utah, that could have made that jump. How good do you want to be? How much do you want money and sponsorship?

There is a huge difference between taking calculated risk and unnecessary risk. I risk more money on any given day than any prokiter can ever dream of because I know my chance of losing is very, very small and I won't care much if I do lose. But I wouldn't risk the chance of running out of gas just so I can get to a gas station with lower price. We take risks every single day by walking out of the house (even in the house). But the point I am trying to say is there are plenty other way to prove the same result. My professional idol has a very simply motto: taking risk with what you don't have for what you don't need is stupid. He said that when he ad a net worth of $90,000. His net worth has gone up by $60 billion since. He still hold onto that simple rule. No amount of money is worth risking your life for.

I agree, there are much better reasons to risk your life.

My guess is he didnt just suddenly go for it. Probubly jumped many times in front to get it dialed in before going over. We dont see the days of prep and seasons of honeing skills. Just the feat.

I think it is great to leave your mark, do something amazing and get paid to do what you love. Beats wasting your life away slave-ing in a cubicle.

In fact I passed a fatal accident in Spanish Fork canyon on my way down from skyline last season. A Young guy in a 4x4 head on into a semi. It could have been me If I had come down earlier and hit ice or something.

P.S. I talk tough, but a back roll is pushing the limits for me. Hope I dont break my collar bone.

Half our kite community jumps over the jetty at Lincoln beach. Sometimes over trucks and fishermen. I enjoy watching the show.

Oh if we only had a peir........ And did you see the size of the ramp he took off, we are boosting out of flat water.....

I counted 3 different scenarios where he would have been a dead man.

1. Landed on top of the triangle shape roof structure and puncture his torso.
2. Landed with his head down first first and break his neck.
3. One of the line rapped around his neck and . . .

Funny how he couldn't control the sudden change of wind. And he call himself a pro. It is sad to see another pro kiter not taking any chances.

I think the guy is a stud and it was a easy jump I counted a infinate number of possibilitys but they are all out the fn window cuz he made it. I jump over buildings some times and have come up short the nice thing about roofs is you can slide across them, I think the spot he jumped was his best spot with a "saftey Building" if things went silly.

I think you are an idiot for "gambling" more money then I would ever see in a year away, I can come up with three possibilitys to do with the money your losing if it were mine.

1 I could feed my family.

2. I could pay off the huge amount of debt I am in from being a pro athlete in a couple of sports that have no funding cuz people would rather use their money to "play the stock market" so they can make it richer, rather then create biznesses and help the community grow and sports grow around them.

3. I could put all the cash in a big pile and rool around in it every morning to boost my self confidance.

Idiots Betting on divadents and creating a market with loans desighned to fall and then selling the failing loans to make even more money, What a fuuuccckkkeed up system, I think thoose peole are truley the idiots, I listen to people on line claiming how this one dude could have gotten killed, hurt some one, given the sport a bad name, including comment about helmets etc... But Leo you are going to Boost about a being a profesor in a system that truley has ruined peoples lives, place familys on the street, brought our goverment into a postion to bail out thes crappy biznmess while familys rot in hell. to me thats way more stupid and dangerous then any thing any kiter has ever done.

Billy, money is worthless if you don't have the ability to enjoy it. Trust me, I have been called an idiot way to many times for "gambling" with that large amount of changes. My mother would kill me if she knew how much money I could be losing every day. But I don't need the money to boost my ego. I know I can make them back so long as I have a heavy body and mind. The first thing I teach my student is money is not worth much. Never worry about it. Certainly, never kill yourself over it. The risk management technique I teach actually reduces the probability of losing money greatly. But I can only teach so many people. The way most people deal with money is similar to committing financial suicide.

I do enjoy seeing you jumping over building, trees and stuff. I know your ability and know that you do know what kind of risk you are taking. But most bystanders do not know any of that.

As for my comment about 3 possible scenarios that he could be dead, I was referring to the pro kiter who tried to fly across a broken building roof top. He have no chance if he landed on top.

As for safety issues, I have came to the dark side. I will encourage everyone to go big or go home.
