Hasn't there already been fees in place for parking in ceratin areas, at least for slednecks? Don't remember exactly but it seems like I remember a fee at Strawberry River a few years back. hmmmm. Don't remember paying one ever tho, so who knows.

Starwberry is the busiest winter use area in Utah, with the largest number of diverse winter recreators. Only natural for government entities to extort fees to cover the cost of managing larger groups of people. While I prefer to put money in other directions, I am always happy to cover costs that help keep awesome areas open to use. The alternative is usually unneccessary closures. In Lake Tahoe, there are a couple parking areas that require a daily or seasonal fee for a parking pass... in return that money goes to pay for plows that keep the parking areas and access open.

Skyline is still free to park and ride, and the forest service just put up a grant to pay for a snowcat to groom an X-C trail across the street from the Big Drifts Kiting area. Stoked to see the FS paying for fuel to encourage use in the area, and stoked that a snowcat will be nearby.... maybe a groomed kite area someday???

Would be good to look into the Strawberry rumor, I imagine the fee would be nominal and well worth the cost to have access to such an amazing spot.

Most of the fees collected from the Mirror Lake Highway go back to Washington to be used elsewhere. (Thanks to our former administration) The small percentage left for use in the Uintas goes to building cabanas and paving parking lots so people don't have to get their feet dirty when they visit the forest.
