I have a budget of $1300-$1400 to buy a windsurfing setup. I've owned crappy gear before so this time I want to get some decent stuff that I am going to enjoy sailing with. Do you guys think I can do this on the budget I have? I'm hoping to get stuff that is around 3 or 4 years old. I know how to water start and can kind of use a harness but can not get in the straps or jibe yet. I've sailed at the Event Site a couple times. I have to water start to turn around. Anyway, below is what I am thinking about so far.
Board - Something like a Bic Techno 133 or 148. Starboard Go 133 or 144 or something similar. I want to get something that will handle a wide range of sails. I also need something fairly tough so it won't get all dinged up when I wipe out. I've read some of the HiFly boards are pretty tough and they are cheaper than a lot of the others.
Sails - 5.5, 6.5 and 7.5. I want to get something easy to rig preferably no cams. I've read the Ezzy Freeride is a nice easy rigging sail. Do I want freeride or wave sails?
Masts - Hopefully I can find some deals on some Powerex masts around here.
I guess I would need two masts and two booms to handle the range of sails. Any advice you guys have would be appreciated. I'm going to be in the Gorge the end of the month. Should I try and buy my gear there? Thanks.
