Summer Kiting near SLC

Hi,

I'll be in SLC for the first week of August and I am wondering if I should drag my kite along with me. I will be moving to SLC in December so I wouldn't mind checking out a few places to see whats available.

I currently live in RI and get a chance to ride 2x/week. I am just making my transition into an intermediate level kiter. I ride a 12m Cabrinha Switchblade.

WE hav e had an unusual summer being able to ride 3 to 4 times a week on large kites and large boards. I think that we will be slipping into the "summer doldrums" where there is no wind anywhere and it is blistering hot. If the utah valley gets hot it might blow wind up provo canyon and you might get a few gusty rides at deer creek. it turns on about 12 or 1 and will be around till 5 or so. As said before it might not blow at all.

Like the other replies said, it could or couldn't happen while your in town. You can check out the forecasts for Utah Lake and Deer Creek before your trip to see if we're sitting under high pressure or a nice front is coming through. Look for north wind at Utah Lake and southwest wind at Deer Creek. The only thing the forecasts don't handle that well is thermal wind. Make sure to bring you're biggest board though.
