Tough but rewarding day. The wind came in waves. Light wind building to liquid smoke. Then it would level out at about 5.0 with nice waist high swell. The trick was to figure out when the liquid smoke was coming and high tail it for shore. The first time it came through I was in the water hanging onto my gear the best I could getting pelted by spray. Which was fun in a perverse survival kind of way.
