Charleston Bridge is back! The wind didn't really even start to build until about 3, peaked in the 15-20 Kt range between 4 and 5, dropped to about 10-15 from 5 to 5:30, and then fizzled. I got on the water about 5 and had mostly planing conditions for about half an hour, a bit gusty, but really pretty good for DC. There are a few bushes sticking out of the water, but they're not really a problem, and the water seems to be plenty deep for fins of 34 cm or less. A guy with a drift boat was leaving as I pulled in and a guy with an inflatable rowboat arrived while I was sailing. That's it! Zero motorboats, zero PWCs!! Not bad for the start of a holiday weekend. And the water temp is up to 68 F; I didn't believe it either, but I checked my temp probe against a lab thermometer when I got home. :D
