1/10 - Kenny's Where to Ride

Postby Kenny » Tue Jan 10, 2012 11:25 am

Skyline will have decent wind today in the low to mid-teens under sunny skies. The surface conditions remain sub-par.

Wednesday a front passes by and amps up the wind and may bring some snow flurries. It currently doesn't look like the snow will amount to much. Wind should be in the upper-teens or more and gusty. I throw this out as an option, but Rush should be rideable as well. There will not be a ton of snow, maybe a couple inches over the ice at best, so if you have a pair of skis with sharp edges you could do some speed runs. Wind should be in the low to mid-teens at Rush.

Thursday is looking like some residual light winds.

K-Man,
I was out riding my dirt bike at 5 Mile Pass this pm, (1-10-12),so cruised by Rush on my way home to check out the Surface conditions. 100% frozen edge to edge. Ice is covered by only one inch of light snow. Road down is snow packed in the tire ruts and it was no problem to drive down and back out, I had 4X4 however. Not much cushion between skis/board and the ice. Could be very slippery, unless a new couple of inches are laid down. Also, landings will be rather firm. Temp was 38, Wind was N at 6-8 at 4:00 pm.
