DCIB 5/22 Huge gear

Postby JimSouthwick » Fri May 23, 2008 9:37 am

Gray, gloomy and largely windless most of the day, but with partial clearing late in the afternoon. By about 6:00 PM the sky still looked threatening, but it appeared that there might be just enough wind for a huge gear session. Rushed to Island Beach and got on the water at about 7, just, alas, as the wind was starting to fizzle. Got a few planers with my 8.5; should have rigged the 9.5! But the evening light was beautiful, and it was incredibly peaceful - no motor boats anywhere. Water level seems to be rising a bit, but is still very low. Water temp about 55 (air was 45).
