6/5 - Lake Powell - Gunsite Bay - 16m Waroo - Float w/ bindings

I usually take 1-3 trips down every year to Lake Powell. I go down to wakeboard, but always bring some kite gear. This was the best session I have ever had. Plenty of wind. More dangerous wind, than ridable wind Tuesday and Wednesday. I was rewarded with 6 hour period from 12 to 6pm on Thursday in Gunsite Bay. Very steady winds as the direction was a favorable SW coming across a large flat plain, so it was very steady, with almost no gust. I only rode for about 1 hr but the winds were good in that area for about 6. I had a assisted shore launch (bad terrain for self launch on land) and I ended the session with a water landing, self recovery and boat pickup. I would have rode more but the boat crew was up to go find some good water to ride in. I switched up several boards during my session, having the boat crew toss me wake skates and inland boards to play on. It was a good time. See link for more information.

PS - Don't go to Lake Powell to kite as you will be disappointed most the time, but if you happen to have gear and you are there you may be rewarded.

Spencer,

quick question. did you have any trouble with the rangers. in the past they have stopped me because of the "kite tube" ban imposed on all recreation areas. i have explained to them kiting and such and after about an hour of them back and forth on the radio they let me kite. I have never really had them be angry or think to give a ticket but you know when they see something that doesnt look familiar then they pounce on it. jsut curious if you were stopped or if any one said any thing to you about it. thanks
