I arrived at 2:30 to the lots of whitecaps and my wind meter showing 16-20 during windlines. I rigged a flat no-cam 7.0 and a small fin for the windlines and the 135L board to get through the inevitable Sulfur lulls. The wind had some west in it so I was able to scream from south to north shores with a huge smile. It is always wonderful to sail Sulfur on clear, sunny days compared to those late summer and fall days when you are in a race with the clouds. The air was a little hot and the water was perfect for an occasional cool down. The wind wasn’t the 20-30 indicated on the Evanston meter but it was still perfect 6.5-7.5 conditions all afternoon. It was probably closer to 5.7 conditions at 6:00 when I stopped but the back told me abruptly it was time to quit. Sulfur is one of our Utah sailors’ treasures, too bad it takes so much gas to get there. And I was slowed by another wreck in Parleys, but it only delayed me 10 minutes. A gal was apparently texting when she ran off the rode requiring 10 police cars, 4 fire trucks, 3 ambulances, a helicopter (it took up the right 2 lanes), and 2 TV news crews.. This is a reminder to us crazies that checking the latest wind speeds on our Blackberries should wait for a stop light

Sailing both the Gorge and Utah on my 8'2" HiTech and my 3 Starboards; Sonic 85L, S-Type 115L, and Carve 135L. Small quiver is Northwave, larger sails are Ezzy and Sailworks. Often in my white Odyssey but also in my wife's motor home.
