7/4 Grantsville 95L/115L/Speedboard 6.2 (blew 4.0-20.0)

GREAT SESSION!

Tons of people came out... Was on the water at 7AM... had a few good reaches on the 95L board... But then the smorgishborg of wind came and lasted pretty much all day... There was so much variety that not two posts will be the same!

I got my fill of amazing rides today... There were numerous sailors throughout the day that showed up... I'll let you name yourselves!

Turned out to be one of the funnest sessions in a long time because of the company mixed with incredible rides! Great to sail with you guys! I can't believe how much fun I had on a 6.2!

I saw more spectacular wipeouts from almost every person who came then I've seen in a long time! We were alive out there! Especially the slomo matrix WO from Tim Colins!

(ps... thanks to Jason Mortenson for introducing us to Jimmy Lewis. We're just keeping it warm for you Jas!)

And actually I gotta mention the pleasure it was to sail with Grants at Grants... Yes, Grant McAllister Jr. (from the outerbanks) and Grant Sr. at Grantsville! Dimitri came with them as the chaperon!

We were talking about going up to Sulphur to join you guys up there, but were spent by the time that came and it was still windy...

That was a long windy day at Grants. Who would have thought it would even be ripping from 12:00 to 1:00, normally one of the deadest periods. I counted at least nine sailors. There were so many of us in a small place area we kind of Deer Creeked the surface making it hard to surf a wave face to get on a plane. Those that fell near shore became a slalom pole for everyone behind them. And it was nice to have our only competition for the lake be 5 kayakers. And like Rick said, no sourpuss Maui sailors here, everyone was having a great time with everyone else. It was great to have a cheer go up from the beach every time someone did a face-plant and with gusts into the high 30's there were plenty of those. It was fun to watch Rick ripping across the lake on what looks to be a 40cm wide speed board. I am sure he will break 40mph at some point.
