Met Channel 2 news at DC, and of course the cameras scared the wind off. IT did line up as the forecast predicted...but it was slow to fill in after 2pm and left as quickly as it came.
After walking upwind into waist deep water, Billy and I scored a few 'downwind passes' matched by a couple powered upwind passes, each of which left us pulling pounds of green moss off our lines when the wind disappeared. Was fun to be in the water and hanging at the beach under the sun.
I was on a 13m Edge and Billy on a 15m Sport (OZ Instincts) and each of us rode gliders (SS and CFly) The boards were perfect for those conditions, and the kites hung in there as long as they could.
I'd like to personally blame the fire chopper, as the wind literally died as the chopper dropped into the lake upwind of us. Those are not aircraft, they are not flying or gliding smoothly thru the air... they are beating the air into submission and I believe they are no good for windsports.
Hopefully it blows more soon!
