Haven't had much luck lately for late afternoons at DC, so thought i'd head up to sulfer to give it a shot. When i arrived, wind was 27 avg with gusts to 34, rigged a 7, but the wind backed off a bit before i headed out, so rigged the 11. rode for and hour or so. very gusty, probably going from 17-32, but rideable. took a short break, but when i headed back out, wind had tailed off a bit more and i was lucky to get back to where i launched from after almost getting stuck across the cove from the launch site. In total, i was only out about 1 1/4 hrs, but all in all, not a bad session. About a dozen windsurfers there when i pulled up, half still on the water. They said it was stronger and steadier earlier on....same old story for us people that work regular hours. Thanks to Lynn for being my kite beeeotch. The water was a bit colder than she was willing to wallow in.
For anyone heading up this weekend, bring some heavy rubber. The water is definitely on the chilly side.
