Pow Mow 11m and 9m Mayhem

Postby ChrisPSherwin » Thu Mar 19, 2009 10:05 pm

Went to PowMow with a buddy of mine from the East coast. John G was there as well. I rigged my 9m kite for my friend who had never even flown a kite before. At 215 pounds he was fine, but did get dragged a little bit, which he thought was fun. Went out of the 9 while he took a break, and had some fun next to the parking lot. We then went to the main area where he flew and dropped the 9m kite a bunch. I was on the 11 and started hitting the jumps a bit. Those things are FUUUUUN. Got enough confidence to hit them with a little speed. I can only imagine what the pros were doing on those earlier last week. The wind was supposed to be mellow, but it was really quite nice. Soft spring snow, and still plenty of coverage. Couple of gusts to keep you honest. I towed my buddy across the grooming to get him closer to the lot. He held onto my harness - very clumsy arrangement - I don't recommend it. Bailed a little after 4:30 with no issues from management / patrol. This was day #3 for me at PowMow - if the wind is from the south, I don't see how you can go wrong there...

Also, I've been talking to a guy that makes wood kiteboards in North Carolina. He does a version of the Door for about $240 shipped with pads, straps and fins. I am making ZERO guarantees on the actual product, but if you're willing to take a chance on a light wind board, send me an email and I'll try to put an order together. Below is a link to a board that he made and is selling on ebay - also, if you are in the know, and this just seems like to much $ or looks like a crappy product, please let me know - Thanks!
