4/13/09 - DeerCreek N of Charleston Launch - 16m Best Waroo

Looked out my back door (I just moved to midway) and saw two kiters cruising the north end. Grabbed my gear and headed down. By the time I got there the wind had dropped. I had to run back home - forgot a piece of gear, by the time i got back Ralph and John were at their vehicles and said they caught a good hour. So I headed down and setup. You can park just north of the provo river bridge north of the Charleston launch. With the water level where it is at there are a few fairly nice fields to setup in. You just have to ford a small creek if you take the direct route (2-3ft deep) The field is fairly dry but marshy in some areas. I setup and walked few hundred feet out and did a drift launch. I should have went out a bit farther as there was a mega reed that caught my harness. The wind came back up in about 1/2 hour and I rode for a couple hours powered with a couple lulls. The reed was a pretty sweet addition to my kite - i think it added to the kite loops. The water temp was not bad. I wore a 2/3 full with a 2/3 shorty beneath, no gloves, hood or booties. Good session. Watch out for some big log obstacles. I also found a sweet tennis racket! So anyone up for some tennis?
