Myself and John D. arrived just before 2pm, to full on white caps, and at that minute, a 5.0 and 90L board woudl have worked well. 5 minutes later, a 9.0 would have been nice. The wind was so westerly, and up and down, that I never could decide what to rig.....and never did rig. I got the wind meter out a coupld of times and got gusts up to 38mph, and a few moments later maybe 5 or 10.
I met Craig and Tyler, nice to meet you, both wanting to kite. After a zipper malfunction, Craig did go out on his 13, when the wind was light. He did get some rides, and worked his way upwind a bit, then here came another 30 mph gust, and smartly, he came back in.
Louis showed up later, too, wanting to WS. Rigged his 7.5 since the wind had died a bit, but he could not even get a beach/waterstart to happen. He was hit with every direction of wind, and decided to come back in and wait. Louis, I hope you got rides, after we left.
