Rush Lake Friday 5/22 - BIG kites

Postby KyrkWright » Tue May 26, 2009 11:16 am

Kenny was kind enough to let me tag along on Friday last week. We arrived out to the mud puddle around 3:30. Kenny got some good rides on his Silver Arrow and huge board. The wind started to pick up a little so I went out on a 17 and the SS Glide. Had a hard time keeping it in the air at first because the wind was just too light. The the wind shifted East and picked up enough that I had fun for a very short time period before the storm driven wind built too quickly to stay out. Was fun while it lasted. My first time at Rush and I suppose I received a "proper" initiation to the Rush mud boarding experience with the pleasure of a true mud bath brought on by one of the gusts. Took a few pics that will post as soon as I shrink them a bit.

Everyone has to do the Rush mud initiation at one time or another. Check out photo #4 for Kyrk's.

Water is getting way low. I am guessing that I will only get a couple more weeks of mud boarding, my board was scraping the bottom almost the entire way across on the underpowered reaches. My guess is that the water is 8" at the deepest. Sad year for Rush lovers.
