Starvation Reservoir 6/5 - 6/6 7.5m

Went to Starvation Reservoir with my family, friends, boats, etc. Decided to pack the big board, a couple of big sails, just in case... On Friday afternoon a squall would come through every 30 minutes or so, rigged the 7.5 and the Carve 145, and ended up with a pretty nice 1-2 hour session, powered up most of the time. Same thing on Saturday, but more wind, longer session, as it really started to funnel through in the afternoon. After about 2+ hours of flying around the lake, overpowered on the 7.5 and the big board, finally got blown off the lake, could of had a pretty nice session on a small board and a 4.6/5.2. Not complaining however, enjoyed a couple of nice afternoons on a pretty lake. Starvation may not be the best choice on a south wind, as the topography looks like it may provide some inconistent winds, however with the state campground right on the lake, it's nice to rig once, leave your gear near the beach, and blast out on the water whenever the wind decides to come through. Plus... it was awfully quite, not much boat traffic, didn't see a wave runner, and all the fisherman stayed at the far end of the lake.

The water was pretty chilly, in a wet suit just fine, but w/o.... I dove in once w/o a wet suit and I thought it felt really "cold". The kids all did the same, stayed in the water about 30 seconds (if that), and they bailed. (No one played in the water). I'm guessing in the 50's. The lake is at about 6000', and someone told me it was fairly shallow, and warms up nicely during the summer.
