Deer Creek 8.0 freeformula 190

Postby BrettLinde » Fri Aug 07, 2009 5:41 pm

Arrived with Steve N. to lake capping at 1pm. Windmeter said 23mph gusting to 30. SMallest sail I brought was an 8.0. Turned out to be great for the inconsistent gusts. No Boats, wind sent them running.. Steve and I sailed till 3ish, great rides and over the handlebars once, think i did a somersault hooked in. Good times. Steve on a freeformula 157 and 6.2 Warm lake to ourselves.

Ya, I think I had a little more fun on the 6.2 and my 49cm fin (my favorite combo). It was a great afternoon with some really good fast rides across the lake. At about 3:15 it started to get really squirlly. After a good gust out of the east, I decided to call it a day. Saw at least 1 poleboarder down at Charlston (I am assuming Jim) and at least 2 kites at BB. It was a nice surprise today and a little stronger than I thought it would be.

George(6.6), Judy(4.5), Mike(6.5, I think) and I(6.0) launched at DCCB. Extremely gusty when I started at noon, but did steady out a little.
The weeds have really gotten bad lately at DCCB; don't even think of launching there unless you have a weed fin!

Kudos to Jim for helping Judy out of a jam in the weeds from hell.

I tried my best to clean the lake of all those weeds but there are only so many vines one can tow with a standard fin before you poop out.

Island beach from now on.
