8-17 ULLB 12-17m small boards

Postby windzup » Tue Aug 18, 2009 8:03 am

Got there around 5ish, Jason(s) already had kites pumped up. I added a 17m to the beach, and Jason M was up and riding first on it. Went from Glides to smaller boards quickly. Then Billy and I took turns powered on the 17 Zephyr.

Sal and Billy went big over the jetty.

Kites in the air were from 12m on surf boards to the 17m on 130 boards.

Around 10 riders, nice quiet evening at the lake, wind stayed on until after dark from the North.

nice evening, well powered on the 14m. wind mid-high teens. a little less crowded than its been, which was nice. wind was strongest right before dark, which made it tough to come in. right near the end, i was heading out, about 100 yds upwind and 50 yds ahead of (i think) billy. Launched off a wave and just hit it perfectly. went about twice as high and long as i was expecting. from about 20ft up i remember thinking, as i was looking straight across at the Zephyr, "hmmmph, here comes that big kite". luckily, billy saw me and headed back the other way. amazing how the newer kites just glide forever, need to be more careful.

Got off work at 3:00 my new quitting time, so I headed out to Lindon to see if the wind would pick up. Then I would make the ride to Lincoln. I waited till about 5:00 and seeing the wind meter at POM readiing 20 at 3:30 I figured it would not make it out to Lincoln. So I went home. Dam I should have made some phone calls. Glad to see you guy got some though. I figured it to be a skunk. I guess it was for me. :(

powered toward the end on my 12m LF Havoc 2, riding a crazyfly cruiser pro 144x45 board. Thanks to all for the tips/advice/local etiquette tips! really enjoyed meeting a lot of you guys who had been just names on the list until now.
