I went to Strawberry River initially. The wind was good, but the surface was hard. I really wanted to play on the area downwind of the Rest Area Parking, so I packed up my gear. I arrived around noon to light wind, so I put up my 19M. The wind almost shutdown completely around 12:30 and I started to wonder about my decision to come to Strawberry at all (hard surface, wind shutting down). The worst part was that I was right at the base of the gliding hill (IMHO, one of the best around). Fortunately, the wind came back around 15 - 18 mph and it was smooth. The snow cooperated as well and became soft with the warm afternoon temps. Bob from WI joined me and we had fun tearing it up. Had a great time doing some long glides and then decided to go downwind and ride around the cabins. I glided down the big hill just to the north of the cabins, it was something I wanted to do for a while, but the snowpack has always been too sparse. I decided at that point that I did not want to bother tacking upwind, so I packed my gear and walked along the road back to my truck. I forgot how far it was and I was spent by the time I got back. It was a good day with sunny skies and excellent wind.
