Big Wednesday!

Postby Don Losee » Wed Jun 16, 2010 8:53 pm

There is a classic surf film called Big Wednesday about an epic day that only comes around every 20 years, when the surf is to big to go out for most all riders. Today was Gnarly! Rode punchy DCBB, then Lindon (some near death sightings) and then the jewel of UT, ULLB. Blowing 60 mph...no shit....60 mph. God I love this sport.

I thought the wind log from Bluffdale looked crazy. The wind shifted from SW to NNE in at least 10 minutes. 36 mph gust from the SW to 30 mph NNE wind. Just flip around and kite the other direction. Should have bought a 7m kite for the winds we have had lately. I don't recall seeing so many 30 mph plus days in such a short time.

15:30 62.0 43.2 50 38 46 NNE OK
15:20 64.2 42.6 45 39 49 NNE OK
15:10 67.7 40.8 37 24 30 NNE OK
15:00 81.9 24.8 12 19 36 SW OK
14:50 81.9 24.6 12 32 39 SSW OK
14:40 80.8 26.1 13 36 46 SW OK
14:30 79.9 25.2 13 30 40 SSW OK

The wind shifted soo fast me and Don were on Lindon Beach and it switched in 2 seconds from south to north
I had to run to my kite so it would not blow away. It was the fastest hardest switch in direction of wind I have
ever seen
