6/26 Double Down DCBB Lincoln Zephyr

I think that yesterday was day nine in a row. Deer Creek was good from about noon until three I think. I didn't get there until one. Got pretty far up wind and had fun in some chop sheltered coves. Picked up my friend and went to Lincoln. You don't need to read more, because you were probably there. 20 kites up in the air at one time. I kept an eye on my body dragging friend, rolled to Sal Padre with Jason, picked up a few boards, played bumper kites with some people in the flats, and then the wind calmed down. Decided to call it quits, was packed except for the kite, and then I saw the Peter Miller Show in progres. OK 30 more minutes...Spent another hour rallying butter with Billy and a few others. The light was just gorgeous, warm water, adequate wind. Mark got a few shots of us being idiots, and then I went too far into shore and dragged my cruiser pro on the bottom. Oops! Metal fins rule - no real damage. Drove home in extended twilight and a full moon. Then the Swedish Bikini Team showed up...

Yesterday was phenomenal for yachting. 17m Zephyr/raceboard yachting. Kited over to SSB, went almost all the way upwind to Provo boat harbor, then back downwind deep into Mud Lake. It was a blast. Jibed close to shore near reeds and felt some major tugging on my shorts. Looked down and spotted a massive dual treble hooked lure connected to my shorts with fishing line wrapped all around my leg. As i was dealing with this I dropped my kite in the water. Bad mistake. Spent half an hour trying to relaunch in mud lake. Not much wind down on the water. It was a real struggle and I was drifting further and further down into Mud lake where the wind was very sparse. I was almost ready to flag down a boat. Luckily relaunched and took off back to SSB with lure in tow. Tons of wakeboarders down in Mud Lake. It was a trip to see the looks on their faces when they would look up and see some dude maching by them with a giant kite. Doubt most of them had ever seen kiting before. Came in to SSB and pulled up to an anchored boat in the shallows. And boy am I glad I did. Aside from them pulling the lure off my shorts, they had the most beautiful bikini clad woman on that boat. She was giving me water and beer and treats! I felt like a sailor at sea who had been rescued by a mermaid. I could have stayed forever. But the call of the wind was just too much to ignore and I set sail again, back to Lincoln beach. Docked the boat and went kiteboarding. Fantastic afternoon and evening. Tons of kites out. Props to Ralph Sorbonnes(sp?) kid Rowley(sp?) who is officially Utah's youngest kiter and looks to be 10 yrs. old. He is going to be good! Absolutely gorgeous day.
