12/31 Strawberry River 21M Speed 3, 192 Tanker

Took my largest board and kite combo to Strawberry River. Mark J. was with a rider named Ryan, Bob Allen, and Justin showed up. We had to wait a few minutes for them to plow the lot. The skies cleared and the sun came out. Snow was thigh deep and setting up was a pain. Wind was light, so I made a beeline for the gliding hill. I was well-powered on the hill and proceeded to do glides and powder turns. Wind was so light and the snow was so deep on the flats that I decided to do a downwinder to CC East. Glided over the road, it was cool watching cars and semi's 40 feet directly below me. Landed over 50 yards from the road, so it was not nerve-wracking. Rode down to the big gliding hill that Jake and I hit the other day. Had one nice glide down the hill. Then the wind shut-off when I was near the road. A driver actually waited for me to pack up my kite and slog to his car. The wind had also shutdown at Strawberry River. I picked up Bob, but Justin had a very long slog back to the road. Very fun day. Not sure, if I liked today or yesterday better. The visibility was better today, but yesterday was honking wind and deep powder. Had some of the best powder turns ever yesterday. Today was pretty sweet as well, but I had to work more for it.

Glad someone rode. I drove up to SSSkyline
to a mad blizzard. I ran for town and drove into
the side of the highway snowbank due to a complete
loss of visability. One hour later dug my little babby truck out and
limpped home. Skyline got another 60' of snow.
The road flags are almost burried and its only December............ Good luck snow plow guys.

Oh yeah...
wind was of the hook, but unridable for obvious reasons.

It was a lot of work today! I made it to the hill ok but it was a pain to set up and get going. At the hill I climbed up a ways and after a few turns I could see what a pain it would be if I put my kite down. I thought about just playing on the hill a bit then hitch the road back. But first I tried to see if I could kite back. The wind was light and I was only able to ride the ridges and there was no way I was going to kite back to the truck. Justin and Bob made it to the hill just as I was packing it up to hike back. I took off my skis to fold the kite and sunk past my waste. It was super hard just to get back into my skis and ski poles were almost useless as they would just sink. It was super hard just getting to the road that was very close. I new when I saw Justin down on the North side of the hill packing up his kite that he was in for a long crawl to the rode. Bob was smart and stoped on the hill with his kite below him, and was able to wind his lines to the kite then make it easy to the road. Snowshoes or just more wind would have been the ticket. Saw 3 elk wading in the provo river on the way up! Not the best day kiting for me but it was an adverture.
