Flew the 13m Frenzy and Jake Walker flew the 12m Manta. Arrived early AM and hit the morning session. Mixed feelings about the snow at first, really stoked its deep, really crazy how the wind runnels and strastrugi made the nice powder so hard... at least this snow isn't going anywhere, its frozen in place 7 feet deep.

Wind came back up after lunch and we hit the main ridge. Awesome session there finding the sweet powder spots. Wind was perfect and westerly in general on the ridge, even tho it was south on Bosco's Hill. The wind seemed to funnel up each canyon and gave powered rides upwind in each direction of travel. First we did what I call the 'heli runs', you park your kite above you and drop in on long untracked powder runs, looping the kite like a chopper to climb straight back up. The wind was so good we could drop all the way down to the tree line and still climb out easily.

We slashed our way for two miles to the end of the ridge where the 'French Connection' leads to more terrain. We made the bad call of not carrying packs and snow shoes, so we decided not to portage and just head back for more steep pow. David Kyle joined us down the ridge and threw down some of the most stylish glides I've seen in a while, nice grabs boned out 50 feet up. The bowl was crazy full of lift, it didn't want to set anyone down, it just kept taking the kites up across the bowls. Jake discovered a half pipe and destroyed it.

So dead tired from a long rad day that I could barely walk to the car. Wasted & Twisted.

Brian Schenck
