Monday 2-28-11 Skyline 13m all day long

Postby windzup » Mon Feb 28, 2011 10:01 pm

Started early and met a few others at the snowed in top lot. Kited all over Bosco's and the main ridge. Went down to the 'french connection' and came back to play in the pow. Fun sessions on the ridge, hitting the low 40 mph speeds and carving pow.

Packed up and drove all over to see how the wind was at other spots. No wind at Schofield, I wonder if it just needed more daylight to fill that place in. Plenty of snow on the lake and the slopes all around, just no wind at the moment.

Back up the road to the top of Huntington Canyon South. Dropped Chasta off, he snowboarded down and unfolded his foil as he boarded, launching instantly at the bottom of the slope. Fun photo shoot session powered up on 13's in deep powder.

Packed up and drove back to the lower area, aka electric lake, aka the reserves ( I remember today why that name, because it is a reserve powder supply). Today I decided to call the lower area 'Little Strawbs', as it is just like strawbs. We hit wind lips, cornice half pipes, deep powder, roof top cabin rail slides and hill glides. We traversed the whole lower area and it reminded me how big this bonus area at Skyline is... which is why it felt like strawbs, with gullies and hills to ride on each side.

Then we packed up and drove back up to the main lot again. Plowed out completely at this point, and we had the place to ourselves. Kited to sunset and into the dark, kited down the ridge and watched Chasta glide over trees and bust some quarter pipe unhooked mctwist handle pass whatchamicallits. Shredded more powder as the big orange ball disappeared behind the west coast.

Basically South Wind all day long, Blue Skies, and powder.
