only two sailers on the water,me and Mike HILL. At one point, I came in to rig a 5.2 but instead tighten down the 5.7 a little moreand went back out. It was a good day fully powered and over sometimes. Mike was on a 5.3 and loving it. Surprised not to see more sailers out, but I quess so of us have to work and stuff. O well !!!!

There's just no substitute for going down to the lake and taking a look, especially if your friends are out acting as "wind dummies." I knew it was blowing, of course, but it just seemed too gusty to be much fun. Idiot! By 6 PM I couldn't stand it anymore and headed for DC, just as Mike Hill was returning. I thought I might get a few rides on big gear. Mike advised against going too big. Rigged in a frenzy (my 6.0) schlogged out to the Island and back, readjusted the boom height, started schlogging back out, and was slam dunked by a 35 MPH gust! Eight waterstart attempts later, managed to make a white knuckle blast back to shore. Angela and Mike had both seen the impulse coming and converged on Island Beach to see if I was OK. Thanks guys!!

I wonder if it was smoother at Jordanelle. The fetch is more or less unobstructed from the south. Those J-Bay guys are always there, maybe we can get someone to post.
