10/25 Cocoa Beach, FL Speed 15m

Arrived to light wind and head high surf. Temps were nice, air temp around 80 and water temp in the 70's. A squall came through right after I set up and I had to wait 45 minutes for it to pass. Wind came back, but direction was ENE which made it almost on-shore conditions and 12 - 15 mph. I did not have my big kite, so my only choice was to go downwind. I quickly realized that it was futile to even try going the other direction. So, I ended up riding 10 miles downwind in a single reach. It was sweet carving the waves and dropping into the white water for miles on end. My right thigh began to ache after so many miles just riding to my left, but it was so worth it. Fortunately, my brother was with me in a chase car. Cocoa is a very nice place to ride with nicely defined wave sets, big open beaches, and warm water.

That's funny Kenny. I did the same thing there about 2 years ago. Did you see the "launch area" for the 520 slick?

Chris,

No, I made a beeline for the ocean and waves. If I had more than an afternoon, I would have checked it out.
