TESTING THE WATERS MONA 4/4/12

Postby David Kyle » Wed Apr 04, 2012 5:24 pm

Well, the water is as expected, cold. I know this simple fact after spendind 45 minutes
on a self rescue almost a half mile from shore. I had a couple decent reaches on 17M
when the kite fell out of the sky at the wrong side of the lake. Water was so cold that I made
a hasty decision to role up and self rescue. If I would have waited 5 minutes I would have
been still riding but I got scared. Thanks to my Billibong 3.2 and Pete who walked about a mile to meet
me at the end of my swim.

I certainly was not the best example when I first started kiting.
I had lots of guidence its nice to finally be helpful instead of the hazard that I use to be.

Hey dave, i live in springville so mona is much more do able for me than rush for south wind days. So one day a few weeks ago i was thinking about trying it out. I called the number on the sign and talked with a woman aboutlaunching on their property and she said it was fine, but that she would charge me for access come may when campers started showing up, but i dont think she understood that i wont be taking much space... I didnt go into it with her anymore than that, but was wondering if i should plan on paying for entry down there and what its usually like for you during summer months when campers are out? Do i need to or should i call each time i go? Thanks.

Ps. I'm most certainly not going to impress any babes with my insane tricks so don't worry about that...they're all yours.

Pps way to go AGAIN peter!
