Strawberry River - New Nickname?

Postby ChrisPSherwin » Mon Jan 14, 2013 8:36 pm

I saw that today was the best wind for probably a week and decided that kiting seemed better than working. Pulled into the River at 1pm. Just me and one other crazy bastardo in sub-zero weather to start. Food, water, vaseline on face... Let's go.

So the pow is good, actually, damn fine and the wind cooperates, and there is much rejoicing. I have the right skis, the right kite, the right clothes. Nothing could be better. The wind slows, but then ramps back up. Just when I think I'M having a good time, I look to see this fellow hucking and looping his kite EVERYWHERE.

Looping uphill. Looping downhill. Hucking and looping left. Hucking and looping right. Big air to loopy landing. Bigger air to loopy landing. Big air to botched landing to loop followed by loop, and all the while looking like this guy :))) I was having fun just watching him. I'm gonna call him "CRAZY LOOPS."

Finally Crazy Loops heads for the car. I'm getting comfy on the gliding hill by the highway and decide that I will not bother kiting back to the car. Just before sundown I put my kite down by the road, pack up and there is Crazy Loops waiting for me with a warm car.

He drives me back to my car, we slap high fives and swear we'll do it again. Black Cadillac with Crazy Loops departs. I think his name was Andy.
