I wasn’t expecting anything but when I got up at 6:00 and saw the last reading was 20-27 I was on the road in a hurry. Of course it had died back by the time I got there (15-21). I ditched the 6.0/86L wish. But there was plenty of wind for a 7.0 and the smaller/faster of my 2 big boards. I planed off immediately and the wind just continued to build to 21-24. I had already had tons of screaming reaches when I figured it was 6.0 time. But a cloud formed over the lake and cut the wind back and made it pretty up and down. At 9:30 the sun came out again and the wind came roaring back in; it was back to the races. It took some patience to wait for the wind lines by then but when they hit it was like being launched by one of these linear motors they have on roller coasters. I have now had 6 Grants sessions since I got back from the Gorge 2 weeks ago. Great morning.
Great except for the roads. The county decided to shut down the Grants highway and said use I-80. But the state had shut down the onramp at I-80 and was recommending using Grants highway. More government incompetency. There were definitely hundreds of people late to work this morning and one anxious sailor zooming around the back roads of Tooele county trying to find a way to Grants.
