Blew fitfully all morning; looked ugly on the DC webcam - calm punctuated by very brief gusts. Finally just had to go down and have a look in person. Pretty dead close to the launch, but there were a few white caps near the far side. Rigged my 8.5. Mistake! One wild ride to the far side and came back in to rig down. 8.5 to 5.0 is a pretty big jump, of course, but it actually worked out pretty well; well powered up in the gusts but never really overpowered. Dave O' went out on a 5.5 shortly after I went back out on the 5.0, and Mike (not Egan) who arrive a bit later, was on a 7.3.
