Small crew at Island Beach. John D. and Jim S. both dismayed when I showed up, citing "Dimitri's curse". Well, sailors are a superstitious bunch as we know. But by showing up I at least guaranteed no one would get better wind than I. Beautiful day, though, with light breezes, the rare gust and three in-the-strap rides for yours truly. JD probably got more on his 155F. Matisse on my Roberts and a 6.1 was planing in almost nothing. J got a few rides too on her 5.7. Lightweights rule. But so does Jim with his 8.5 Formula gear, planing for some miles. The beach isn't too far away and the hillsides are glorious with color. Not too many boats at all. DC's prime season has begun!
