Tuesday 11/21 DCSBB

The wind first hit Charleston about 11. Got down to IB about 11:30; almost no wind at all! Went home. Looked like the wind was picking up a little, so I headed down again at about 12:30; still no wind. Mike Hill arrived shortly after I did, and we sat around chatting for about 15 min, at which point we noticed dark water and whitecaps far down toward the dam. Drove down to a turn out where we could get a better look at the dam. There were definitely gusts down there, but they appeared to be pretty short. Mike headed home. In the interest of thoroughness, I decided to pay a visit to SBB. And, surprisingly enough, it looked promising, until I finished rigging, that is, by which time the wind had basically quit. But it came back! A bit gusty, as usual, but the direction was stable, and it was possible to plane on a big board most of the time for the next 2 hours. Kind of a grim-looking, overcast day, but quite warm (air:58! Water:48 ).

The wind was clearly stronger and steadier at SBB than in Charleston: http://utahwindriders.org/phpBB2/album.php?user_id=79
