11/30 Powder Mountain

Postby Augie » Fri Dec 01, 2006 7:36 am

I took off for half a day and went up for a session before night skiing. I took the 10m Frenzy and had a blast. Winds were about 12mph when I got there @ 1:30 and increased to about 18mph when I had to pack up and leave @ 3:30. It was slightly frustrating since it was fairly gusty and the wind was out of the norhtwest. That wind direction made the winds kind of a crosshill direction in the normal riding area. I should have just stayed on the parking lot side of the microwave towers.
The snow report on the skiutah site is not accurate. They received about 20 inches of new light fluffy powder. They purposely didn't report the right amount because the new lift isn't ready yet. All that it needs is a load test with the tram board. Powder Mountain has already done a load test of their own but the state guys cancelled last Tuesdays appointment. Look for it to open about the 9th or 11th.
I am going back today for another try at it if anyone wants to join me. I know most of you will be at Skline this weekend, so enjoy! I have errands to attend to tomorrow or I would be there.
