12/26 Powder Mountain Rhyme

Postby lesvierra » Tue Dec 26, 2006 6:41 pm

Christmas was good,
Marty, I liked the rhyme
It inspired me to give one a try,
at least just this one time.

The weather forecast at Powder Mountain said southwest at 21,
the wife wanted to give snow kiting a try and thought it would be fun.
Even my buddy Tim was willing to give Powder Mountain a try,
He’d kited at Pineview and even came out to Skyline to fly.

Tim, he borrowed my 10m frenzy and launched from the cat track.
I told him it got windy up on the ridge, if he went there come back.
I helped Brandi rig her 9m waroo,
with some direction she was off too.

I rigged my 12m waroo and was off with not much time to spare,
But when I got over the first ridge, no one was out there.
The only thing I could think of was Tim or Brandi had a kitemare.

I kited over THE ridge, Tim was down in the bowl,
I told him not over there, how did he get so low.
And of course the wife did follow but she could still make it out,
I told her this way and that way would work, with a shout.

She began to fly back and forth with her skis,
When I looked back, here kite was stuck up in the trees.
Aaaaah man, what happened, I said with a frown,
She could not hear me, so I anchored my kite down.

I know this ryme is getting long to bare,
worse for Brandi, the kite had a huge tear.
It landed on an old dead tree,
Its point went through the beautiful green canopy.

Well this is what I call learning by the school of hard knocks,
for traction, Brandi climbed up the tree in here socks.

We finally got the kite out of the tree,
I had a little more time to fly, jump and ski.
The jumps were grander with each tack,
But the landings mostly ended up with me on my back.

In conclusion, the wind was 15 to 25,
Maybe a little to much for us to fly.
But you never know what you’ll get when you hit the trail,
One thing is for sure, I need to get the 9m waroo back in the mail.
(thanks for fixing the bridle steve).
