12/30 Skyline - we are so spoiled

Saw Vern and his son, Jake, Heather, Brian, and Marty. The conditions were excellent at Skyline today. Consistent northwest wind in the 10 - 15 mph range, clear skies, warm temps, 6" of somewhat fresh away from the snowmobile tracks, nice soft base underneath. It was all good today. Most of the weeds are now gone at Skyline - it is back to top form. Can't say the same for Strawberry yet. The flats at Strawberry are okay, but the hills need more coverage.

When I think about how good we have it here compared to the poor souls that are out kiting on frozen lakes all the time, I realize how fortunate we are to live in Utah. Sure a frozen lake is not bad when you need a wind fix, but it doesn't hold a candle to high mountain kiting terrain.

I just wonder about our windsurfing comrads - when are they going to catch on to the wonders of snowkiting? Utah water kiting is nothing to brag about - can't say I have ever met anyone that traveled half way around the world just to sample our water kiting fun (for that matter I haven't met anyone that decided to vacation in utah in order to kite on the water). However, it seems like everytime I am at Skyline I meet people from other parts of the US or the world. So far to date, NoCa, SoCA, FL, CO, U.K., Germany, MN, SD, ID. I don't feel so bad driving 90 minutes when I realize how far many of our guests have come.
