Rush 4/22 13M Instinct Sport SS 136 SX

Great morning session 15-25 mph but cold, full on neoprene/drysuits. Marty Doug and me on 13's, Jason on 15. Fully powered to almost too much for a couple of hours then slowly backed off. just as Ryan, Sal, Les arrived. They did some downwinders and I left. Understand it came back up with 11's and 9's in the air. Where's my prize for leaving. I'll be in contension with Christian D for the 'leave light wind to bring big wind' honors.

Thats the way the day went.
Didn't know if we should go to Rush or not.
But Craig's post made the decision,,
along with building wind in the Rush Valley.
Great first session, as Jon posted.

We derigged, and almost left.

Glad we rerigged with smaller kites for a Killer second sess.
Doug rigged 9M (virgin instinct) I rigged 11M, could have used 9M.
The best session of the year, love smaller kites,
Power on demand..........

Les joined us for second sess. (break through day????)

Jason, Ryan and Sal must have been frozen, they all left.
It would have been real hard to climb back into a cold wetsuit.

Average temp...46 degrees but toasty in the drysuits.

Noteworthy day Jon, thanks for leaving. Winds picked up nicely. I went out again. In just a minute of looking at Martys gauge, saw 15-26mph. I only had my 16m waroo with me and figured the wind was dying. Nope. Good excitement, didnt have the balls to do anything fun. As I closed my eyes last night at bedtime, I could still see Ryan 20+ feet up in the air and his new body surf technique, Dougs patented cool slow twist in the air followed by a hard carve turn with spray, and Marty's emoticon

with kite and board looking smoothe. Finished my session with a saftey release as no one was on the beach. I feel bad for the guy who just bought my 16m waroo. I dont think the rush lake mud is going to rinse off.

I have had some days like that when I was fully powered in Oregon. It was easy to stay upwind. Definately a break through day for me at Rush though, finally some good wind. I'd like to blame it on my board. It feels like an anchor. I'll know real soon if its me or my board as the Spleen Door should arrive this week. :-P

I quite simply froze my ass off and couldn't muster another session in the 3/2 with no booties or gloves. Guess I need a drysuit. Marty and Jon are always proving to me gear necessities. First the glide, now a drysuit. I was kiting one handed alot of the time with the free hand tucked in my armpit. Drove to the new development next to rush for a new perspective on the view of rush. Cool to see Marty and Doug riding the south end butter from above.
