I had planned on do the morning thing with the grantsville crowd but my morning schedule didn't comply. Around 11 am I spoke with Mike Egan who was driving home from Grantsville telling me how good it was, and I decided to run up to DC for the afternoon. I had a pretty late start. When I got over the hill by Deer Valley I saw a lot of white caps on Jordanel. I followed some wise advice I received early on; "don't leave wind to find wind." Pulled up to the lake, to see an unknown sailor ripping it up. Rigged my 5.8 and had about an hour and a half of fun. The lulls became long enough I thought I had better get off the water.
Around 8pm I received a call from Dohn Jubock (who is afraid his name will be googled by his boss and find out he wasn't sick after all.) He told me Deer Creek was shunkaroo. No wind at all.
So I don't know why J bay would rip and DC didn't? maybe craig has some insight to that. Too much west? The winds were blowing at a higher elevation?
