Some days you just have to believe that it is going to blow. The forecast looked terrible for Skyline, but I figured I might catch some clearing wind by going early. Unfortunately, I woke up at 4 AM and could not fall back asleep. Made my way to Skyline in fog and darkness. Arrived to a socked in launch area with light wind. I put up the kite anyway and it started to clear, but then the fog came in again. Some riders arrived at 8 and it began to clear. Put up the 19 and went up Bosco. It was cool and surreal with periods of foggy clouds and sunshine poking through. Up on top it was sunny with fog in the parking lot. All morning it cleared. The wind backed down around 11, back came in nice around 1. I rode almost the whole time and left around 2:30, by then the wind was a solid 12 - 15 on the upper ridge under bluebird skies. I discovered you can glide about as far on the upper ridge as on Bosco, but there are strands of aspens below, so it started to freak me out on one of my longer glides that I might land in them. Did a lot of exploring. The terrain is absolutely blanketed in snow. It is about as good as it gets. Found some deep powder stashes.
There were a few locals there Heather, Chris, Woody, some new guys, I recall one guy was named Devon. Chip Wasson and some other CA snowkiters were also visiting.
