Had a quick 4 day stay at Pa'ani Point (still available as the new enforcement of restriction of rentals on the n. shore seems to be in gear) with plenty of rain, wind and good eats thanks to cheap Ahi from Costco and the no name restaurant (okay, Cafe Saigon). I had good contacts at both Goya (btw, Federico is in Ca. undergoing chemotherapy for esophogeal ca.and they have raised some very helpful money for his expensive therapy) and Simmer (Keith). Things really have not changed much. Laird was buying rounds of Coffee at Anthony's (if you were in the "in", and we were not). We only had a little subaru rental, but if you are to be a part of the bigger scene, you have to have a Ford F250 or Hummer and in black with oversized tires and...
Ate at a little cafe called Des Amis, great crepes with indian and curry etc, we overheard Woody Harrelson report on a Kitemare as part of his foil lost air while he was out. Still some fickle but good winds for winter this trip as sailed 75% of the time. There was an even mix of slalom rippers on 6-7 and wave riders on 5ish. I remember the first time we went and stayed at Honeybuns on Stable road in '91, it was pure delight as we had a private launch. We also had a sailor with us that preferred cooking and prepping to sailing (always a plus when planning a large party sail vacation). Saw lots of turtles this time popping their heads up and lumbering off. Good short trip and only missed two days of work (sounds quarky, but its a balancing act).
