DC season opener, finally. Went down about 9 AM. Almost knocked down by a gust as I exited my van. Got a meter reading of 50 almost immediately! Went home. Returned at about 1:30. Got wind readings of about 15 with gusts into the mid twenties. Looked very black over Timp, suggesting that the wind was likely to increase, so I rigged a 5.3. Mistake! Got a few rides, but spent most of the time schlogging. At the end of the session (about 4 PM) water temp was 44, air temp 45. Very comfortable in my drysuit. Probably should have worn gloves, but didn't; by the end my hands hurting a bit.
