Mona 4.7 and 75ltr

Saw a dust cloud from Salt Lake thru Provo and could hardly see Mona Res from the freeway. One good note...The road into Mona, got a few upgrades, and the boat launch area got some new gravel. I joined Tom W. who was a bit OP'd on his 5.9. I hoped for the best and rigged the 4.7 and small wave board. When I started out I was cussing myself a bit, thinking that I should of rigged a 5.4, but that changed after just a reach. Then I was smiling and hanging on in the gusts. Mark L. showed up then Stew, I think on 4.7's also. Some of the gust that came thru had me wishing for 4.2, but I just rode as long as I could with the 4.7. I made it upwind quite a ways, and found some really nice conditions. The small swell was even setting up nicely, and fun to play in. I sailed for about 2.5 hours, and could not hang on any longer, and gave it up. It was a really good opener for me, and I stayed plenty warm.......a bonus!
