6/8 RUSH

Postby Jon Manwaring » Sat Jun 09, 2012 8:20 am

Strange day at RUSH, S till Noon, then N till 4. Doug and others out on 11's early, Then, as DaMan predicted, big S (20-30) but only 3 hrs late; S arrived at 6:00. 8's were the call.
KUDOs to visiting kiters Donna and Jeff from San Diego. Jeff managed to kite his 14M while we were very happy on 8's and Donna, first out on 9.5. She lasted about 1/2 hr, but eyes were wide open, then came in and went out on a 7.5. She's a kite animal. They got a great 'taste' of UT kiting. Who needs that gentle blow dryer steady wind, anyway!

The north wind was fairly strong when I arrived at 12:30, but it slowly petered out all afternoon. I flew 12m foil, 17m Zephyr, and then had a nice long session on the 21M. Other kiters were making it work on 11's and 12's with directional boards. I left around 4:30 when the north died out completely.
