I would have missed the whole thing if it hadn’t suddenly tried to blow the flags of the poles on the west side where I work. I wasn’t even watching Mesowest. Zoomed to Sandy to get the equipment but there was no wind. I figured it would be a useless trip but I smiled when I saw 10’s of boats and jet skis backed up to get off the lake because of the “nasty” wind. I was on the water by 4:00 with wind at 19-25 and still creeping up so it was perfect for wild speed runs on the Infinity and Sonic. It is a little scary to be going as fast as the Sonic wants to go in those big waves. It is not unusual to have someone want to drag race but a jet ski? I was just getting ready to cut behind one when it turned east and started a race. The water was rough enough that he didn’t have a chance. The wind hit its peak of 24-31mph between 4:30 and 5:30 then the 1st lull occurred. Still had some great wind lines until it had a big lull at 6:30 when I quit. Considering I am going to miss the next wind event to enjoy a few days with my grandkids, this was a real gift and definitely a surprise. 5 other sailors showed up using sails 5.3 to 6.0.

Sailing both the Gorge and Utah on my 8'2" HiTech and my 3 Starboards; Sonic 85L, S-Type 115L, and Carve 135L. Small quiver is Northwave, larger sails are Ezzy and Sailworks. Often in my white Odyssey but also in my wife's motor home.
