Sherman Island Report

Postby Josh Shirley » Wed Jul 04, 2012 11:52 am

Well, 5 of us made the trek out to Rio Vista for ABK Boardsports Camp.
- Mike Egan
- Mike Avondet
- Gina Ramoz
- Duane Karren
- myself

Everyday was met with 4.7m to 5.2m sailing, and very tired bodies.
I think everyone gained something from the experience.
ABK started short one instructor so Jason Voss jumped in to teach. I think Duane appreciated that.
Mike A mastered the beach start and water start.
Mike E and I well, humm, our arms are 2 inches longer.
Shorty weather, 5m conditions, and hot air make for fun sailing.
I am ready to go back.

Worth the trip! I, like everyone else, wish I had started doing these camps a long time ago.

Great trip with good peps, weather and wind. I learned what goes up must come down and impact is harder than take off. Wait I may have already know that. My forward loop will be here fall of 2012 if we get some wind around here and there is water left.

As Vern and I were driving out from a week at Sherman,
We saw someone in a van with Utah plates setting up camp down where you (Josh) were last year.
Glad you got the goods.
The week before was not normal Sherman winds,
but we still kited every day on 11M 10M and 8M.
The end of June is my favorite time there.
